Palram - ENMA GH800-1400 for Polycarbonate Sheet
Doncaster based Palram are a major UK manufacturer of polycarbonate sheet. They make solid sheet up to 18mm thick and multi-wall roofing sheets up to 40mm thick. Waste pieces can be up to 1100mm wide and 3000mm long.
In Summer 2019 Palram’s existing granulator manufactured in 1979 reached the end of its service life and was no longer repairable. Palram needed to source a replacement granulator as quickly as possible.
After considering proposals from several manufacturers Palram selected a GH800-1400 Heavy duty granulator manufactured by ENMA Granulators and supplied by K-Tech Ltd.
K-Tech offered a competitive price and a high quality machine that was fully compliant with CE safety regulations.
ENMA designed a granulator with an inclined cutting chamber and a bespoke infeed chute to feed to guide the sheets from the mezzanine floor inside the building to the granulator located in an annex at the side of the main Palram building. The chute guided the scrap sheets accurately to the correct part of the rotor to give reliable feeding with no fly-back. The granulated material was then conveying back inside the building through stainless steel ductwork, to a DeDusting unit before being discharged into a bagging station for 1000 kg capacity bulk bags.
From point of order to delivery ENMA manufactured and delivered the granulator to site in just 20 weeks.
The new ENMA granulator was installed and was in production and it was running within 24 hours of arriving at Palram’s Doncaster facility.
Production manager Carl Burwell said “We were very pleased with the quality of the machine that arrived and its capabilities are far beyond our old machine. In the first 7 days of production we were able to process 50T of material clearing the backlog of waste that had built up while out old machine was out of commission”.
